How do I know if my samples have high levels of D-Glucose and maltodextrins for K-TSTA analysis?

If you are unsure if the samples contain high levels of D-Glucose and maltodextrins you can run sample blanks using the Standard Assay Procedure (Procedure A) with the modifications that in step 4, 0.1 mL of distilled water is used (instead of ∝-amylase enzyme) and in step 5, AMG enzyme is also replaced by water. If Glucose is present your samples will have a positive result when analysed using GOPOD Glucose determination

Alternatively, the need to perform this sample blank analysis can be avoided by washing of samples with aqueous ethanol (80%) (see procedure E in the data booklet) - This is the most simple approach if you are unsure.
