Is the Total Dietary Fibre Assay kit (K-TDFR) suitable for the measurement of dietary fiber in meat or animal products?

Modified on Thu, 14 Oct, 2021 at 2:14 PM

By definition, dietary fiber is non digestible polysaccharides (and oligosaccharides) mainly of plant origin.

If a sample is mainly meat or an animal product with little plant material, this will be testing the limits of the kit.

Animal products can contain various polysaccharides (glycosylaminoglycans) which will contribute to the dietary fiber value.
