Can the D-Glucosamine Assay Kit (K-GAMINE ) be used to measure glucosamine in polymers?

No. The D-Glucosamine Assay Kit (K-GAMINE)  only measure free, non-covalently linked monomeric D-glucosamine.

Hydrolysis of polysaccharides can be achieved by acid hydrolysis (as per the sample preparation method described in the kit booklet for "Determination of total D-glucosamine, including

D-glucosamine-6-sulphate, D-glucosamine-2-sulphate and  N-acetyl D-glucosamine in pharmaceutical preparations"), however, is recommended that scientific literature is consulted for information on hydrolysis conditions for the particular oligo/polysaccharide that is being measured.
