What type of cuvettes are recommended for the absorbance readings when using Megazyme assay kits?

Modified on Thu, 11 Nov, 2021 at 10:59 AM

UV/Visible / colorimetric analytical methods require absorbance readings made by spectrophotometers using either square cuvettes or tubes.

Cuvettes or tubes recommended for absorbance measurements at 340 nm and above should be made of PS (polystyrene), PMMA (Poly(methyl methacrylate)) or optical glass.

Borosilicate tubes can also be used and are used with the MegaQuant™ Wave Spectrophotometer (Chemistry Analyzer).

Cuvettes should have a 1 cm path length and be of 3 mL (standard) or 1.5 mL (micro) volumes, ensuring that the volume is applicable to the assay being performed.
