Have you any suggestions on how to dissolve the AZCL-Barley-beta-Glucan (I-AZBGL) substrate?

The substrate AZCL-beta-Glucan is insoluble in water. It hydrates to form gel particles. When β-glucanase acts on these gel particles, it solubilises the substrate. This can be used in plate cultures to locate micro-organisms producing β-glucanase.
We supply a soluble dyed β-glucan, namely Azo-Barley Glucan. You can obtain information on the use of this substrate in the booklet "Assay of Malt β-Glucanase".  We also supply
Beta-Glucazyme tablets and pure barley and oat β-glucans.
